Today’s podcast takes us to New Zealand where I had the opportunity to speak (virtually) with
about her grassroots organisation . Let Kids be Kids is an initiative which empowers parents to ask questions and take action about what is happening in New Zealand schools and the wider culture.Penny and I compare notes as to the remarkable similarities between Scotland and New Zealand wherein ideology is replacing learning and the family is being undermined. It seems, despite our geographical distance, a playbook is being enacted in both countries where children’s needs are not being valued or met, in fact the foundational structures which lead to a healthy and functioning adult are being destroyed through government and school initiatives.
We talk through the advocacy she has achieved through her road shows in particular with
whose ‘identity disruption’ presentation I have cited many times.I found the conversation to be really useful in understanding the wider scope of what is happening here in schools in Scotland. This is a playbook being implemented all over the world. And parents - we are the kick back. So roll up, get your listening ears on and be prepared for action. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride….
