Being a Trans Ally
Scottish Playwright Jo Clifford's Letter Demonstrates How Far We Have to Go
On the 16th April the UK Supreme court ruled that - for the purposes of law - the definition of ‘woman’ must be grounded in biological sex. A week later a further court case brought forth by Scottish parents Leigh Hurley and Sean Stratford against their child’s school, Earlston Primary, and local council in the Borders, reiterated that single sex toilets must be provided in schools.
Whilst women’s rights campaigners breathed a sigh of relief a counter response was launched by activists and ‘allies’ on behalf of the trans community.
It will come as no surprise to my readers that I am firmly in the camp of biological reality (and welcome the court judgements) however I’d like to explore the alternative responses as a way to see how we might move forward. The ramping up of panic does not serve a solution either practically or psychologically.

The Arts Sector Rallies Behind Their ‘Trans Siblings’
I would like to say I was surprised (but I am not) to see the amount of former colleagues from within the arts sector post messages like below. (Yes -the very ‘inclusive’ arts sector I am excluded from… due to my opinions). The posts seem to all but admit they are going to ignore the court ruling.
Putting aside the predators in the name of Isla Bryson etc for a moment (that is relevant but for the sake of this exercise let’s put him to the side)- in the arts in particular we are working with a group of individuals who thrive on theatre and make believe. The key to a successful theatrical production is ensemble - ie. relationships and tribal alliances. You have to know that people understand the rules, and follow the script.
It is clear this cohort feel concern, worry… and anger. They rally against the claims of safety in the context of ‘the community’. As I said we are putting the Isla Bryson’s to the side for the moment, we are not focusing on ‘safety and dignity’, we are considering the ‘nice trans’ as the allies want us to. And let’s assume most of these ‘allies’ are trying to be good friends. They have friends, colleagues, even family members whom they have formed bonds and allegiances to. They don’t mind - Jo Clifford- for example, ‘taking up space’ in a woman’s refuge (this is metaphoric clearly because most if not all making this claim will never step food in a refuge). That said, Jo is not a threat. And let’s be honest of course most who know or met Jo realise Jo is not going to attack women in a vulnerable space. (this does happen by certain trans activists, we have the receipts, but we are putting that to the side for now).
Jo Clifford - The Trans Grandma of the Arts
Jo wrote in the Guardian a very insightful piece about his journey from a Father of multiple children and husband - to living his best life, ‘as a woman’.
He iterates how the double theatre of his life: 1. his living ‘as a female’ and 2. working in theatre, have brought him great comfort. Jo does not want to give that up.
Understandable.
And I agree with Jo in that the focus on toilets is a wrong one. I’ve always said that. Whilst I support single sex provision and welcome the judgement this issue is not about toilets. For me it’s always been about the lie. As much as Jo can purport to ‘not be a man’ - he is and shall ever be. Even as he propagandises his life experience where - for the past twenty years- he has built a professional and social life entirely around his trans identity- it does not negate the physical problems he seems to have faced through the interface of synthetic hormones in his male body. Physical issues he does not talk about publicly but whom former colleagues have shared with me. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe he’s just unlucky with health.
Do ‘Trans Allies’ understand the full physical repercussions of ‘trans affirmative healthcare’?
Studies have shown links between the sustained use of synthetic oestrogen by males leading to osteoporosis at the lumbar spine and radius, as well as blood clots and cardiovascular problems. Jo’s problems are probably minor however in comparison to the young ones he champions for who will not only face bone and heart problems but a raft of issues from sterility to incontinence.
And Jo never had ‘the surgery’.
When a pretend phallus is constructed for women seeking male synthetic sex characteristics a graft is taken from their forearm to construct a phalange where the vulva is. This is not a functioning phalange as the penis is a complex organ which cannot be created. It is merely for show and for penetration. In other words: pornographic.
It was pointed out to me that it would be like reconstructing the inside of the nose with skin from the arm. The body is a complex and miraculous organism, the skins that form in different parts of our bodies (whether it’s penis skin, inside our noses, or our underarms) all have unique functions and characteristics. They cannot be swapped about randomly. Bodies are not lego.
On the other hand, men who are castrated under the illusion that they will ‘become female’ sign themselves up to a shortened lifetime of physical pain, and continuing surgeries to meet the complications. The body reads the hole which has been created to ‘look like’ a vagina as a wound. Therefore it is constantly seeking to heal itself. To stop this from happening the castrated individual will have to ‘dilate’ his hole for the rest of his life.
Dr. Joseph Chrysostom, a surgeon in Wales, UK, has written to the NHS about the effects of sex-reassignment surgeries. He notes how surgery increases mortality rates, urogenital complications and postoperative complications. What’s more psychological outlook is not improved by surgery.
charts the horrific fallout individuals brought into the ‘promise of happiness via trans’ face as they experience increasing and horrific medical problems and no support. Did you know that if a person changes their mind (detransitions) they are vilified by the self same love bombing 'trans community’, billed as traitors? So as these individuals face a lifetime of a raft of physical problems they are attacked by the very same people who promised them…. everything. You can watch ‘The Lost Boys’ here which charts boys caught up in this illusion. And ‘The Detransition Diaries’ here which shows girls who were fooled into thinking they were boys. In addition a new film “No Way Back” is premiering this week - 29 April. How is it kind or compassionate to promote these treatments which are known to bring interminable harm?
Jo Clifford, the NTS and their ilk do not acknowledge any of that, and more the shame them, as it makes their endeavour even more dishonest.
Trans is an Addiction
Why is Jo so dishonest? Well because Jo is an addict and a pusher.
In my option he is no different to a heroin user, he needs his fix. And around him his ‘allies’ enable his physical destruction not minding the chaos they leave in their wake. New recruits with vulnerabilities are pathologized and exploited as they get hooked on the drugs (synthetic sex hormones) and the social validation. Often this is referred to ‘trans euphoria’. Any non-validation is not to be tolerated. That’s where the toilets come in. That’s where access to single sex spaces that match the theatre of themselves must be upheld. They must ensure everyone and everywhere behaves in the way they see fit.
It is worth noting Jo, who transitioned well into middle age, after he had fathered children and enjoyed some success as a playwright, will not have the physical problems in comparison to the child, teen and 20-something he is enabling, as seen above.
I don’t suppose his ‘allies’ think about this. The trans illusion is permitted through carefully constructed instagram filters and slogans. It is no wonder that it thrives in the arts, wherein eccentricity and privilege have always laid to roost. But never have the stakes been so high as their natural state of self promotion seeps poison into our groundwater.
And remember Chinese foot binding existed for a very very long time. It is a good reminder for us that humans are capable of upholding a dangerous lie. Footbinding continued in China for hundreds of years.
Adam Kashmiry: Egyptian Freedom Fighter in Scotland
This is Adam Kashmiry.
Adam, a female, arrived in Scotland from Egypt and claimed trans identity. In a relatively short space of time she was courted by and became a darling of the National Theatre of Scotland. Her story ticked all the boxes of the progressive set: gender identity, asylum, Scottish exceptionalism et al. Soon an award winning theatre show and a film produced through the BBC. They even collected money from the audience for her phalloplasty after (at least) one production.
The project served the budgets and the egos of the struggling arts sector.
It also served as a nice jigsaw with Jo Clifford’s piece ‘Eve’, also produced by NTS hence fitting into the very comfortable and predictable anti-Catholic rhetoric that is de-rigeur in the Scottish Arts scene. (note: Catholics are (perhaps?) the last institutional ballast against gender ideology)
It followed on, funnily enough from his production “Jesus Queen of Heaven”
With images like this
These are not merely theatre productions though, these are extension of ‘lived experience’ which is increasingly featuring in media and arts. Therefore they are not productions outside of oneself (ie. an actor might take up the role of ‘Hamlet’) but a validation of the life lived, or in this case, the life pretended. In this instance Jo projects himself not just as trans but as a deified version of humanity via his transgender identity.
And how does one come back from that?
When Scottish Arts Stopped Being About Art, and instead about ‘lived experience’. Arches, Take Me Somewhere and the National Theatre of Scotland
We are in dangerous territory. Where does ‘play’ exist when our national stages merely become extension of our ‘lived experiences’? And where does this stem from?
In my next post I will outline how the Scottish arts scene and its trans activism was paved by a powerful synthesis between The Arches Theatre Company and The Contemporary Theatre Course at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. How the players from these organisations now are the head propagandists for the Scottish trans agenda. And how this social justice has become a mask for addiction enabling which is destroying the very people it purports to help.

(Not) Creative Scotland
There has been some attention paid in the press to the closure of the Creative Scotland Open Fund. The Open Fund was one of the only pathways available to independent artists for public funding. Understandably many are upset. Whilst I sympathise I could easily argue this was a long time coming and those who find themselves caught out have not been pa…

No Boundaries: Conversation with Mary Howden (Episode 17)
Was delighted to have a conversation with Mary Howden, Director of the Women’s Rights Network (WRN) and retired social worker to speak about the damaging erosion of boundaries we are seeing in education, social care, culture and healthcare settings. Mary has decades of experience working with vulnerable individuals. Her first job doing personal care f…
It is cult behaviour: "love-bombing" people to win them over; telling them that family and friends who are opposed to their new life "hate" them and that the cult is their new family; discarding them as soon as they have misgivings; and trying to destroy their reputation if they speak against the cult. Numerous detransitioners have spoken of this cycle.
Lately, the Mayor of London has been putting up increasingly sinister signs on the London Underground. The first read, "You are loved & wanted in London". I wasn't sure if that was about tourism, immigration, Pride or what.
The second, much more sinister, one reads, "I came to London alone and met my found family". The whole concept of "found family" seems to be an attack on natural families ("heteronormativity" as the Queer Theorists call it to try to make it seem strange and unnatural) and an encouragement of joining cults and cult-like far-left groups.
Being in London feels more and more like being in some kind of parallel universe totalitarian woke state.
Ahhh yes - it always ends at going after the Catholics. So predictable.
They should just start there next time and spare us all the pretense.
