Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "These fantastic new additions to our much-loved City Centre mural trail are a physical reminder that Glasgow is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive city for LGBTQ+ residents and visitors alike. They are a symbol of solidarity with LGBTQ+ Glaswegians and support for global human rights and equality.
Nothing creates big changes like a FLAG. Glasgow City Council should send one to Yemen and sort that shit out…
At same time….
FGM Survivors Campaign launches to ‘get their clitoris back’ as campaigners cite the devastating medical fallout from the forced practice of removal of healthy vaginal tissue.
Our “beloved” NHS will cover the medically unnecessary task of “gender affirmation surgery” (ie. castration and mastectomy of healthy body parts) but not for women who have been raped and undergone forced mutilation of their female genitalia.
One has to wonder where Glasgow’s priorities lie as not only has it been branded the pothole capitol of the UK….
Recent figures show that there is one reported pothole for every 86th person in the city.
…but also it is facing dire financial straits as many council services are cut to the bone. .
We are still in the dark about the impending teacher cuts -
450 teachers slated to be cut from the school system
in the next 3 years- many schools and teachers still report they don’t know where they are to be placed for the school term start the 14th August….

It seems the council is (as ever) scrambling to make up the shortfall….
Holyrood Sports Centre is being sold to private company Queens Park Football Club
…under the mantle of a trust. Who needs indoor sports venues in Scotland anyway? We’re mostly made of water. (to be honest reserving judgement on this one as Glasgow City Council is such a mess, maybe anything is preferable? The public/private model has been such a success after all! Oh wait….)
And how are things for children? As reported in previous posts, summer programs seem to be at an all time low. Last year Scottish Government allocated just £4 million pounds towards its summer budget for its children. With 797,700 school age children nationally that budgets just…
£5.02 per child for the WHOLE summer.
Stupendous. Think of all the fun that can be had with that!
But it’s ok because Scot Gov is on the case to help generate money for the less fortunate and job deprived….

… I am sure many will be so delighted to be given an opportunity to pay off their council tax or rent arrears (totalling £115.9 million and £169.6 million pounds) with the ‘donation’ of their reproductive elements.
Who needs to consider the physical risks (sepsis, perforated bowels, near life threatening cases of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, long hospitalisation and agonising pain to name a few) when such a stable economic plan is being developed?
In the meantime the care of its citizenry is even more apparent in the allowance of murderer Cameron Allan to be out on bail having a grand old time for TWO YEARS before sentencing.
There is some contradictory messaging out there regarding whether this individual is the self same darling who promoted the ‘decapitate terfs’ slogan at a Trans Rights Rally in Glasgow attended by our Scottish Ministers former MP Alison Thewliss and MSP Kaukab Stewart (pictured). I have read the early death of his police officer Mother led to his deviant behaviour. Well that’s taking restorative justice to a whole other level innit?
It’s tragic and appalling and sadly typical. And yet, no accountability.
Here’s the thing, we just had a PRIDE weekend. But what’s it really all about? Are we really contributing to a society that is going to flourish? One even one that functions? One that’s inclusive? My kid cannot get a regular football club, in Glasgow. The sports centre is being sold and shut down, potholes are literally everywhere creating real time risk. Families are struggling to put food on the table as taxes are rising and income is falling.
As written about in previous posts “Not Just a Penis” and “Primary 4 Pride Discos” I believe our hyper obsession with identity is making us superficial, more exclusive and less able to recognise the dignity and uniqueness that every single person has. I worry that the concerted push to ‘remind people’ about ‘diversity’ is causing more division and less tolerance. And I believe more than ever we NEED to be united.
It worries me that the cultural sphere used to be able to offer some opportunity for people to share universal truths about the human experience. Anymore this is not the case. Art is by and large propaganda and artists, propagandists.
And I ask you what real time impact will- a flag have, really, in their purported cause? Will it create more tolerance, understanding, acceptance? Do flags (as in the case of Yemen) really have the magic ability to change society?
I think not. It’s merely a lazy tick box of signalling to the wider public that ‘they’ (corporate sponsors/politicians etc) have done their due diligence whilst actually doing nothing. It sends a message of their own political allegiances whilst not addressing any of the core and vital issues of the ‘regular’ folk.
Former Czech dissident and first President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel’s book ‘The Power of the Powerless’ captures this disastrous cultural state poetically, perfectly and tragically.
The central figure of his famous dissident essay, The Power of the Powerless, was a greengrocer with a placard in his window saying: “Workers of the World Unite!” Havel asked an apparently simple question: what is the purpose of this display?
The shopkeeper is not motivated by an intention to communicate his enthusiasm for unity of the workers of the world. Nor was his superior seized by such desire. And the leaders of the authoritarian system in which the sign is displayed know that their power would not long survive unity of the workers of the world. In fact, it is unlikely that anyone who sees the sign gives attention to its substantive content.
The real meaning is not conveyed by the printed words. The greengrocer’s intention is to signal conformity and avoid trouble.
The commissioners of the Pride Progress flag do not care about the dignity and lives of ‘LGBT+ people’. This like most of these displays are merely signs to indicate conformity to an ideology.
What’s more this flag wasn’t just done to coincide with the Glasgow Pride Parade but also with the Merchant City Festival. The Merchant City Festival has been running at least since 2005. Originally in September, for the past 10+ years it has run on the final weekend of July. I have a long history with the Festival having been commissioned to make family friendly dance work as early as 2008. They moved the MCF up a weekend so would be at the same time as Pride. Which is odd.
MCF was always an ‘everyman’ space. Over 4 days you’d see all walks of life enjoying street performance, music and food (over 55,000 people). One of its strengths was that it was apolitical. It was a ‘common’ space where people could share in the vast array of human experience. Kids and grannies, English and non-English speakers, families and hen nights, and everything in between. It was joyous. I loved it.
And now…. here you have Murray Allan interviewing Pride participants.
It seems an intentional obfuscation in order to colonise family space with hyper sexualised adult content. Which we see in schools and other cultural spaces.
As Jennifer Bilek writes in her new book “Transsexual Transgender Transhuman: Dispatches from The 11th Hour”
“Children are being groomed for this future. They are being indoctrinated in schools to the idea they can choose their sex and to see themselves as compartmentalized mix and match parts, vs whole biological systems attached to and sustained by the natural world. They are being taught about reproductive technologies and surrogacy in grade school, that some families are created via technology. They are being taught that they can transcend their human bodies and that sexuality is a smorgasbord of acts, having nothing to do with reproduction or intimate bonding, and they are being sexually traumatized into a state of dissociation.
Women are being erased in language and law, and society overhauled to erase the sex differences to accommodate these advancing technologies and the continued objectification of women. The surrogacy and technological reproduction markets are already generating billions of dollars in steadily growing revenues. Collectively, they are projected to reach into the hundreds of billions by 2032.”
Scottish Government does not care about children. Its actions state as much. It can paint all the flags on the road it want, this does nothing measurable to improve lives. £5 per child for a summer program. Closed sports fields. Lack of opportunities. No teachers in the schools.
Riddle me this? What is it we have to be proud of? Can we find shared purpose again?

Well, all this extremist deranged ideological madness was imported, all over the Western world, from America over the last few years. The country spills its downward-spiralling madness everywhere. But it's been done in Scotland, along with attacking Alex Salmond with fake sexual assault charges, to destroy the SNP and make sure there is no second indyref.
The American and English governments are behind it all, so they can continue to steal Scotland's natural oil and gas revenues. The Holyrood MSPs willingly participating are just sad wannabe-American fools. It's obvious, nihilistic, pathetic, deranged, and depressing. But I would watch about trying to take too much of this stuff in. It'll drag you down, as it's a constant insanity tsunami. Look after yourself.
