In the context of the recent reports on the Grooming Gangs I am minded yet again how little children matter. And I mean that in both senses, both that society cares for and protects very little for children and that caring properly for small children (and big children and children in general) is vitally important.
Reading the transcripts of the horrors the children had to endure (and some didn’t as three children were murdered of the thousands that suffered) is beyond belief. How could anyone perpetrate such vile evil upon any human, let alone a child? How could any person be complicit is such horror?
recounts that there is no term to adequately frame what actually happened to those children. In the way that 9-11 encapsulates a moment in time, so to “Rotheram” will be the benchmark, the water mark, the sea of hell thousands of girls had to swim through with no life raft for 30 years. The abject failure of institutions serves as a stark reminder that we must be ever vigilant when it comes to child safety. (and when I say abject failure I mean utterly horrifying failure, this should be a radical wake up call for the whole country to care for it’s children). (And every single person who turned a blind eye needs their feet to be held to the fire)
It’s not that we don't have manifestos, proclamations and… manifestos! Oh and we do love a good consultation, I could paper my home with them ten times over. Scotland loves - LOVES - to make proclamations about children. ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’ (GIRFEC) and the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) are two flagship programs propagandised by our political, social, and cultural elite. Yet what is apparent (when one scratches the surface) is that neither these, nor any of the countless other (expensive) consultations/programs put out ‘for the benefit of children’ seem so interested in protecting or giving children a voice as using children as a political mouthpiece. Through this children are emboldened with a false sense of agency.
I am minded of the Land of Toys from the story of Pinnochio. The predatory Coachman captures ‘naughty boys’ where they are taken to ‘Pleasure Island’ to follow all their hedonist drives without reproach or punishment. Of course the Coachman did not have honourable intentions and within months the children turn into donkeys where they are then traded like chattel and forced to work.
It’s a classic story because it’s a classic problem. Kids are often stupid and naive like that. Lacking the developmental capacity to assess risk, evolutionarily primed to trust adults they will go to what pleases them without a thought of anything different. The story is a vital tale for children in the teaching of discernment. Beware before it is too late.
Until that day comes however (good) adults are needed to protect them. Yet the obsession with ‘child-led’ programs fly in the face of what is good for children. By using terms like ‘young people’ these programs obfuscate the space between the adult and child. No where is this more apparent than in the weaponising of ‘children’s rights’ and the notion of ‘consent’.
The current iteration of Scottish Comprehensive Sex Education (RSHP) is based on foundation of 'sexual rights of children'.
Got that? SEXUAL RIGHTS OF CHILDREN. What’s more its architect Colin Morrison wrote his PhD on the Sexual Rights of DISABLED CHILDREN. (yes you read that right). Why are adults SO interested in sexualising children? (I have written about this before)
The cornerstone of ‘sexual rights’ is the notion of consent. Teaching children 'consent' from nursery (as it is in Scotland) allows predators to exploit children's natural inclination to trust adults. This is evolutionary. What’s more it trains adults not to see children as children (!) & for the adult to place an (appropriate & developmentally safe) boundary. (The Family Education Trust report ‘Unprotected’ outlines how this normalising of promiscuity leads children ripe for childhood sexual exploitation).
This puts poor girls from unstable family environments particularly at risk. Add in the fears of being called racist and you have a triad of dystopian hell. These girls have no one who has their back. And the RSHP program seals the deal. They are grown up now!
Like the proponents of ‘sex work is work’ the individuals who champion the consent sexual rights based RSHP will never face the negative consequences. That the UN is now tabling a motion wherein child porn is ok as long as consensual will hurt girls like the Rotheram ones the most.
The UNCRC Rights Respecting Program which is in 75% of schools pushes this concept HARD. It grooms children to think of themselves as independent agents. In the case of the poor girls of Rotheram this luxury belief (at best) left them utterly out on a limb with no protection, and no sense of safety anywhere.
Children are being fed the idea that *they* have agency when it comes to just about everything. And they don’t. The well meaning and misguided individuals may say it is so children can ‘decide’, that they can say ‘no’ and yet what this suggests is that children have a choice. Did the girls in Rotheram have a choice?
In this landscape of children being groomed by the state and then by actual grooming gangs it is any wonder that large scale abuses happen? And I am not talking about the girls, but the adults around them who clearly forgot their duty, their moral obligation… to children.
Into the foray you have charlatans like LGBT Youth Scotland. Scottish Government has just made another no holds barred statement of support for a charity steeped in child abuse. They make grand proclamations that this is ‘what young people* need/want’. But do they? Consider Castleton Primary in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow where they were denied -again- the right to have a local supermarket built after a five year campaign. An area rife with addiction, poverty, and lack of opportunities. What do they invest in? Making its Primary school ‘inclusive’. Repeat this ad infinitum across the country.
But is it genuinely inclusive? Does it genuinely give children what they ask for or need? Last I checked children wanted to play. To have adequate spaces to play. Not to sit around having circles time about what sexual positions they might agree to. And certainly not to be pimped out by gangs of men.
Consider my recent interview with Maggie Mellon, independent social worker. She recounts how children are routinely denied to be returned to their families (which is more often what they want), or in the case of gender ideology denied safety as girls are forced to share quarters with boys if they declare themselves female. Sexual abuse is rife in the care system, and as the grooming gangs transcripts recount, children are not treated as children to be cared for and protected but left to meet ‘their boyfriends’ - even at 11 year olds.
“Very many teachers, carers, and NHS staff had a sense that something was going on, since they saw underage girls in the company of ‘older Asian boyfriends’. But this was typically written off as behaviour characteristic of the British underclass. They were just white slags.”

What a sorry state of affairs for our country, for our children. We have failed so beyond what is considered reasonable or just. It is time for us to prioritise children and childhood again. They cannot do it without us.

LGBT Youth Scotland & Predatory Teachers
In recent weeks the notorious LGBT Youth Scotland has been in the spotlight for ‘inconsistencies’ again.
