Help ma boab Scottish Government is ‘at it’ again. Gender frickin neutral toilets.

Do you feel like you are under assault by the gender borg? I do. One thing solved and then it comes back again…. multiplied.

But on the subject of toilets…In case it escaped you (and it clearly has escaped a large part of the population) - one does not pee with one’s ‘idea’ of oneself but with one’s SEXED PARTS. Current toilet law is under health and safety legislation because not having access to proper toilets is an actual health risk (not hurty feelings). Females need to sit down, females menstruate, females are more likely to suffer urinary infections (requiring more time), females more often have caring responsibilities (because of biology of birthing babies) etc etc etc…. THIS is why there are always longer lines at ladies toilets. H&S Law for toilets allows for more provision to help temper this FACT. That our legislatures have prioritised tranvestic desires over physical reality as they steamroll forward with ideological toilet provision says AN AWFUL LOT.

Already schools are being built with ‘gender neutral’ toilets in anticipation of the legislation change. I can assume our loony legislatures are enacting ‘ex post facto law’. That is - in anticipation of the law change (they have already decided) they are allowing gender neutral toilets to be built in school new builds. For Women Scotland discovered via survey that only 1 in 20 secondary schools in Scotland provide single sex toilets currently (!).

It is illegal.

This announcement comes in the midst of an eye opening tribunal happening in Scotland right now following a dispute over the use of female changing facilities at an NHS hospital in Fife. The disagreement escalated when Peggie referred to Dr. Upton, who identifies as a woman, as male, leading to Peggie's suspension from her job.

There are a lot of juicy (read: worrying) nuggets in this case. Dr. Upton stated that he is under no obligation to reveal to a female patient he is male, even if female care is asked for, even for intimate exams. DOCTOR Upton has claimed sex has “no agreed meaning in science”. AND SO MANY MORE. (follow Tribunal Tweets if you feel your blood pressure needs a boost).

They are predicting this case is going to take weeks if not months. It’s all the familiar bell and whistles. From Dr. Upton: ‘I just want respect’ and from the Nurse Peggie team ‘ensure privacy and dignity of women’.

If Nurse Peggie fails in her tribunal this will put anyone requiring medical care at risk. A Doctor who cannot acknowledge that sex is a concrete and important reality will endanger patient care as sex specific diagnoses are not just relevant for what we associate with ‘lady’ or ‘laddie’ things (read: prostrates and/or pregnancies) but organ transplants, blood transfusions and much more.

It further transpires that Dr. Upton’s mother and her husband are both ministers in the Episcopal Church. I do not think they have made a statement about their ‘feelings’ or ‘views’ on their son’s chosen charade. That said, many Christian churches seem to have embraced the idea of ‘trans’. I cannot get my head around this for the following simple reasons.

1. Lying (I wrote about this before, hello!!! ‘thou shalt not lie’ anyone?)

2. God makes mistakes? Bodies cannot be ‘wrong’.

3. Two Sexes: Male and Female: clearly demarcated in the Bible. There is no ‘other’.

Yet the basis of the Sandie Peggie case is not lying, because it cannot be. The reason it cannot be is because we allowed a legal fiction to be included in the Equality Act in the wording of ‘gender reassignment’.

Because of this, the viper is always going to come back to bite our proverbial backside as we navigate how to manage that lie. And the casualties will build up.

So let’s assume Sandie Peggie does win her case. ‘Sex reassignment’ is still a ‘thing’ (legally if not actually as one cannot actually change sex) in the equality act. We will continue to hear of absurdity after absurdity.

It is infuriating and….sad. There is this young man who works at a coffee shop I sometimes go to. Tall, lanky, graceful, with gentle mannerisms and … budding breasts. I can only assume this naive young man has been convinced -because of his grace and gentleness -that he *must* be female. It is an aberration. His life will be cut short with the introduction of those synthetic hormones. Lying. It corrupts all it touches.

And there is the other thing that bugs me about this case. And that is the fact this is a DOCTOR. At some point work stopped being about…. work. Bring YOUR WHOLE SELF TO WORK WO/MAN! Declare your pronouns, your breakdowns, your lumps and bumps, your insides and outsides and everything between. Fill the room with the eternity of YOUUUUUUU. Work? Pfft. Maybe later. And watch the world crumble.

The fact is this doctor is prioritising his own selfish narcissistic tendencies over life saving care of his patients. I had a friend who managed a community group working with vulnerable people who told me a story of new employee who came in declaring they/them pronouns. She said she told the lassie ‘I don’t care what you call yourself, our clients can refer to you as they like’. Quite.

Yet this lack of service by our ‘public servants’ is endemic. I wrote about it previously regarding the Trans Nursery Teacher.

The idea that a distressed 4-year-old child should just suck it up and that society needs to prioritise the ‘needs’ of an adult over the development and wellbeing of a child is disgusting. The Education (Scotland) Act 1980 includes the principle that children are to ‘be educated in accordance with wishes of their parents’. Was there a caveat that I missed which says, ‘– except when the state wants to step in and mess with their development and wellbeing for political and ideological reasons?’

It’s just a big old mess. We need to bring it back down to what is real. And take care of one another. On that I’ll leave you with something LOVELY. Service dogs. This film IS gorgeous. The puppies understand, why can’t we?
