What a brilliant and heartbreaking piece. Thank you. I agree with every word. Ive been concerned about this issue and the way the transhumanist agenda is dehumanising women in order to use us as commodities, for some time. But far worse than that is the dehumanisation of babies. There are a myriad of problems with all surrogacy but how can there be any justification for men to buy babies? On what planet do they have a human right to one? What kind of confusion and trauma are we enabling for the children born this way? The ‘be kind’ agenda has created so much harm in the world.

Not just men- single women, older women, heterosexual sexual couples unable to conceive. The commodification of babies is so heartbreaking. Imagine finding out that your surrogate parents were so callous towards the mother who birthed you? I didn’t even get into the paedophiles who are able to commission women to birth and handover the babies with absolutely no safeguards. It’s really truly horrific and tragic. People talk about IVF like it’s nothing but then what of the growing number of embryos year on year??? I was particularly struck by the numbers between UK and USA - considering the size of our nation it is a very high number in comparison. We need to draw attention to the inherent ethical and moral considerations within these practices.

I completely agree, I was just using men as the most extreme example because they cannot ever give birth. And I agree, it’s wrong to use adoption as an argument for surrogacy. With adoption there are usually extenuating circumstances which the child may eventually be able to come to terms with. With surrogacy a child will find out that they’ve been bought and sold like a designer handbag. Imagine finding out that you are simply a commodity, although there are cases where a sister has given birth for her sister. But where is the line drawn. It’s like the GRC. Once you allow some cases, the floodgates open.

Yes it is the most egregious example. And yes there is no consideration of larger implications. It is a huge philosophical shift regarding how one lives. Regarding how one traverses life. Someone said regarding adoption ‘it’s the best case scenario in a bad situation’ - I think that’s right. With surrogacy and laterally IVF a bad situation is being manifested
